Islamic clerics issue fatwa against measles vaccine

Islamic clerics in Indonesia have issued a fatwa against the measles vaccine which they say contains traces of pork and human cells.

The Indonesian government states that use of the vaccine will be allowed for the time being because there are no alternative candidates, although some regions are reported to have already banned the treatment.

It is thought 72 children have died in the country between last September and this February as a result of measles.
