Brexit drug benefit
SIR – There is another side to supplies of medical drugs to the United Kingdom after Brexit.
The NHS is a unique organisation in the EU and, as a big buyer, negotiates prices and predicted UK supply with drug firms.
But every doctor in the UK is familiar with daily shortages of essential drugs due to Uk-priced drugs being shipped out to the EU, tariff free, when the exchange rate is favourable (as it is now) and there is a profit to be made by a wholesaler or intermediary.
Brexit could restrict this dangerous and unpredictable flow, and so benefit patients and doctors, and keep our drug prices low. Tim Manners Frcophth
