SOPHIE WARBURTON IS ALL FOR BEING A MARANT GIRL

-

That easy French nonchalance is sexy but in the right way. It’s covered up and comfortable yet wonderfully louche. None of these pieces scream “I’m a sucker for a trend!” Break them down item by item, and they are classics that are likely already lurking in your wardrobe. No huge investment needed – just a bit of imagination.

Do note: A small nod to the Americana trend goes a long way. A western-style belt is a great “wear everywhere, with everything thing” item, while a Cowboy-style boot is wonderfully practical for the winter (rain-proof, and can be teamed with jeans or dresses) Where I’m (really) shopping:

Massimo Dutti offers good value, well-cut, well-made pieces, and although RM Williams might be a little pricey, its shoes really do last a lifetime. Accessories are a go-go on the high street: western-style belts, silver-and-turquoise combination jewellery, tan suede and fringing. A few of my favourite things: I’m obsessed with my new Alexandre Birman boots – perfect heel height, works well with a cropped jean and the snakeskin makes a change from plain black leather. And I’m still hankering for a Vampire’s Wife dress. This might be the season I finally invest.
