VICTORIA MOSS IS FEELING BLUE

-

In my fantasy life, which sadly deviates quite sharply from my actual existence, I’d be wearing a lot of Stella. She has that canny knack of adding just enough cool without making things look stupid, and a way of mixing pieces up that makes sense for the everyday. I think what this catwalk look does is recognise that most of the time, we’re in casuals

– see how under her coat she’s in head to toe denim (which I’m all for). But, put a gorgeous cocooning coat over anything (admittedly, in my life, it’s toddler-trashed jeans) and you’ve added that essential extra to put you back in the game.

Do note: I find easy outfit wins can come from simply tying everything together in the same hue. Bright colours can be difficult as they often feel a bit sudden, and I can’t decide what they work with. But if you keep to the same or similar colours head to toe, you can look instantly put together. This Mother of Pearl coat is a fine example of something which has serious style power that works with midi dresses as well as trousers. If it’s all gone horribly wrong, you can pop it over your tracksuit and no one will ever know about the yoghurt stains that lurk underneath ( just my child?).

Where I’m (really) shopping: Cos and Arket are my go-tos for basics. Raey, Masscob, Isabel Marant Étoile, Toast, Mes Demoiselles and Ganni are fast favourites when I want to up the ante a bit – all offer great everyday and fairly timeless pieces. I’ve been a devoted Nike AF1 wearer for years. I always get white, but I’m tempted by its new Jester collection – that blue swoosh will tie together the coat and jeans very sweetly. These jeans, by the way – high waist, loose in the leg

– are the best boyfriend I’ve ever had.

A few of my favourite things: I’m always sizing up the next piece of jewellery I might like to persuade someone (my husband) to buy me. I love Delfina Delettrez and Anissa Kermiche for a shot of coolquirkiness. And I’ll always keep tabs on Céline, Christopher Kane, Sacai and Dries Van Noten (and shop when the sales come around).
