Backpackers opt to stay at home

Shares in Hostelworld fell after the accommodation booking website cut its dividend and warned the recent hot weather and the World Cup had hit demand for hostels over the summer. Booking numbers were up 2pc in the six months to June but the company said the figure was likely to be flat across the full year.
