Home Office will rectify passport renewal refusal

A Home Office error has led to more than 1,000 children being wrongly refused passport renewals despite being born in the UK.

Those affected were born to parents from eight EU countries, the BBC reported. Families were not asked for full documentation when they initially applied for and received passports and renewal requests were then affected.

The Home Office said it will assist affected children to get citizenship. A spokesman said: “If you are settled in the UK legally, any child you have in this country thereafter is British.”
