Illegal Majorca turtle farm raided by police

More than 1,100 turtles and tortoises were seized from an illegal breeding farm on the Spanish island of Majorca.

Police also found 750 eggs when they raided the property which they described this week as the “biggest illegal turtle farm in Europe”.

Two German men were arrested on suspicion of running the farm near the town of Llucmajor. The Spanish owner of an exotic pet store in Barcelona was also held. They face charges of trafficking in endangered species.
