LEDS are a bright idea
SIR – Many people appear to dislike the enforced change away from tungsten and halogen light bulbs because they think LED bulbs too bright.
Yet LED bulbs can be manufactured to produce any colour temperature of light that one would like. Measured in degrees Kelvin, 2,500-3,000K is about the temperature of tungsten bulbs; a brighter 4,000K is typically needed in an office or kitchen workplace, while for a full daylight experience, as in a supermarket, one should go for 5,000K. If you can’t find what you need, some smart bulbs now allow you to select the colour by eye with an app.
I have no connection with the lighting industry – I am just someone who uses a light switch daily. Mike Golding
