Ban big baggage

SIR – I see that Ryanair (report, August 25) is to restrict the amount of baggage that can go in the cabin. I applaud this and hope that other airlines take note.

We have all got fed up with the size of bags being taken on to planes. Often passengers seem to struggle just to manoeuvre them, and the problem of finding locker space holds everybody up during the boarding process.

Let’s bring back good old cabin bags that go under the seat in front or in the locker above, as they were designed to, and put all suitcases in the hold. John Bryant
