Steam train passenger hurt in attack by vandals

-

Passengers on a steam train ride yesterday had to be evacuated after they were pelted with stones.

At least one rock shattered a window, injuring a man on the historic Bluebell Railway line in West Sussex. The private line was halted yesterday and dozens of passengers rescued after the attack by vandals.

William Forward, a passenger, posted on Facebook: “At the Bluebell Railway today, having a lovely time. But unfortunately, some boys thought it was fun to throw sticks and stones at us.” A police spokesman said: “There was damage to the train. Two or three youths were seen on the embankment.”
