Boy dies in 500ft fall on Scottish mountain
A 16-year-old has died in a 500ft fall on a popular mountain in north-west Scotland. Timothy Murray had been walking on Stac Pollaidh, police said.
Emergency services were called to the scene after he was reported missing shortly before 4.45pm on Sunday. A coastguard helicopter located him a short time later and his body was recovered by Dundonnell Mountain Rescue Team.
The teenager, from Brighouse, West Yorks, is believed to have been walking with family members. In a statement, they said: “It is a very sad loss and Timothy was a lovely son.”
A report has been submitted to the procurator fiscal.
