UB40 fan silenced after shaking neighbour

A UB40 fan had his sound system confiscated after blasting tunes from the band made his neighbour’s floors shake.

Pendle Council said an officer sent to investigate the complaint in Colne, Lancs, experienced “one of the worst nuisances” he had witnessed.

Yet despite being warned, the resident – who was not identified – continued to play the music. The officer reported that he “physically felt the vibration from the bass being turned up so high”, a council spokesman said.

The council seized speakers and a sound bar following the Aug 4 incident under the Environmental Protection Act. He could still face prosecution.
