Pakistanis protest over Dutch Prophet insult
An estimated 10,000 Islamists in Pakistan set out yesterday from the eastern city of Lahore for Islamabad, the capital, where they plan to stage a sit-in to protest against a far-right Dutch politician’s plans to hold a Prophet Mohammed cartoon contest.
They chanted: “We will die to protect the honour of the Prophet.”
The contest is being organised by Geert Wilders, who has a history of incendiary remarks about Islam.
The Dutch government has distanced itself from the event.
