Wealthy millennials signing more pre-nups
Millennials are signing more “prenups” than previous generations because they have built up a greater wealth before walking down the aisle, lawyers have said.
Firms say they have seen a surge of interest in pre-nuptial agreements among adults in their early 30s. But while pre-nups traditionally protected the partner with wealth, millennials are tackling pre-nuptial agreements as a team, in a more businesslike manner.
They dictate how a married couple’s assets are distributed if there is a split, but are completed before the marriage takes place. Although not legally binding, they are taken into account by English courts.
