Bexhill Birdman accuses police of ‘defamation’
A PARAGLIDER accused of abusing beachgoers has unmasked himself as the “Bexhill Birdman” and claimed he is a victim of “defamation”, The Daily Telegraph can reveal.
Sussex Police said on Tuesday it had launched an investigation with the Civil Aviation Authority following reports of a man being hostile to members of the public while flying along the coast in Bexhill-on-sea, East Sussex.
Now Paul Satchell, a carpenter from Bexhill-on-sea, has revealed that he is the so-called nuisance paraglider. He visited a police station on Wednesday to complain that his character had been called into question. He said: “What has been put out is one-sided lies.”
He claimed his flying had attracted overwhelming support – but admitted there had been heated confrontations.
Sussex Police confirmed Mr Satchell’s visit and said investigations were continuing.
