Nothing to carp about

-

SIR – Neale Edwards (Letters, August 24) is right that townees do not always appreciate the complexities of rural life. However, unlike him, I am delighted that our pond has been denuded of carp by an otter.

I have been trying to get rid of these grey squirrels of the fish world for 20 years. Our water is now crystal clear and the ecosystem is thriving. On the other hand, we are hesitating before investing in trout to replace the carp.
