Friday Night Is Music Night

 Radio 2 is extending Strictly’s glitz and glamour into this week’s Friday Night

Is Music Night presented by catty judge par excellence, Craig Revel Horwood. It’s a celebration of Revel Horwood’s career in dance and musical theatre as a performer, choreographer and sometime panto villain, while also marking the centenaries of Leonard Bernstein and Alan Jay Lerner and paying tribute to the late Gillian Lynne. It includes music from Pirates of the Caribbean, Moulin Rouge, Guys and Dolls and The Greatest Showman. BBC Proms 2018 RADIO 3, 10.15PM

 Today’s late-night performance is from Africa’s biggest music star, Youssou N’dour, whose career has so far comprised 30 albums, an international hit duet with Neneh Cherry in 7 Seconds, a Grammy award, and a strong campaigning record including for the liberty of the late Nelson Mandela. For this Proms concert the Senegalese singer and composer is accompanied by his group, Le Super Étoile de Dakar, in a largely acoustic show designed to highlight N’dour’s spine-tingling vocals.
