POLICE have charged three men with bribery following The Daily Telegraph’s 2016 investigation into corruption in English football.

The City of London Police’s Fraud Squad said Tommy Wright, 52, formerly Barnsley’s assistant manager, had been charged with two counts of accepting a bribe. Giuseppe Pagliara, 62, and Dax Price, 47, were charged with paying and facilitating bribes. All three have previously denied any wrongdoing.

The charges follow an investigation this newspaper published in September 2016. Detectives subsequently launched their own inquiry in November 2016. The men were interviewed between December 2016 and April 2017 and will appear at Westminster Magistrates Court later this month.
