Anti-semitism Barrister’s free speech warning
The definition of anti-semitism set by the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance (IHRA) threatens to “chill free speech”, a leading human rights barrister said yesterday. Geoffrey Robertson QC said ministers were “wrong” to adopt the definition, which is at the centre of the Labour antisemitism row, without a caveat allowing criticism of Israel. In an essay written to advise the Palestinian Return Centre, Mr Robertson said the IHRA definition was “not fit for purpose”.
