Protests in Uganda after pop star held
Protests erupted in Uganda yesterday as police blocked a musician-turned-politician from leaving the country for medical care, after alleged torture while in detention.
Bobi Wine, charged with treason, was released on bail with no travel restrictions but was stopped from boarding a flight, his lawyer said. The action has escalated a dispute with young people, who want President Yoweri Museveni ousted after 32 years in power.
