No bias for starters

sir – Criticisms of University Challenge being male biased (report, August 28) are abject nonsense. The programmemakers simply audition teams put forward by the universities.

I was fortunate to play for the University of Kent. Our team was selected by unbiased and open knock-out competitions. We were then selected to play on television by further open audition quizzes.

Our team had two men and two women, not by political correctness but by hard-won competition, entered into completely by choice. Emma Isworth
