IMF to hold talks with Argentina next week
The International Monetary Fund (IMF) will hold talks with Argentina on Tuesday about plans to speed up a $50bn (£38.5bn) bailout of its economy, at president Mauricio Macri’s request. Christine Lagarde, the IMF chief, will meet finance minister Nicolás Dujovne to discuss its ability to finance its national balance sheet, with the country under pressure because of a strong US dollar. The Argentine peso has lost close to 40pc of its value against the dollar this year.
