Teenager suffers cardiac arrest as Taser deployed

A 17-year-old boy suffered a cardiac arrest when he was hit with a Taser by police officers who were called to reports of a disturbance. The teenager is in a serious but stable condition in hospital after the incident in Coventry, West Midlands Police said.

Four other youths, three aged 17 and a 13-year-old, were also arrested after officers were called to the Canley area of the city at just after 9.30pm on Saturday. The four were arrested on suspicion of violent disorder and assaulting a police officer. Two police officers received minor injuries which did not require hospital treatment.
