The Secret Life of Bees (2008)

A heart-warming adaptation of the bestselling Sue Mark Kidd novel about a young girl (Dakota Fanning) in Sixties America. She’s haunted by the death of her mother and how she was neglected by her father; her best friend is the housekeeper (Jennifer Hudson) who looks after her. The pair run away and end up living with a trio of women who make honey. There they learn some sickly sweet life lessons, as well as the art of beekeeping.
