MP’S bid to make misogyny a hate crime likely to fail
MPS are expected to vote against making misogyny a hate crime today despite a campaign by a Labour MP to change the law.
Politicians will vote to back a new rule to make it a crime to take photos and video underneath someone’s clothing without their permission – known as upskirting. But they are not expected to support an amendment by Stella Creasy to the Bill which would have made it an aggravating factor if a crime was motivated by misogyny.
Government sources said the addition would slow down the introduction of the upskirting offence.
