Licensed pen-friends

- Suzy Vickers Jamie Boyle

sir – We don’t want to write to addresses that genuinely don’t need a television licence (Letters, September 3). If this is the case, please let us know and we will stop writing to the address for around two years.

We’ll write again then to check circumstances haven’t changed (for example, occupants may have moved) and we’ll ask the householder to confirm a licence still isn’t required.

If this process has been followed and letters are still being received, there may be a duplicate address issue we are not aware of. Get in touch with us directly so we can resolve things.

TV Licensing London W3

sir – I was chased relentlessly by TV Licensing even after I had informed them that I had neither a television nor watched live programmes. I sent a recorded delivery letter saying that I would launch a formal complaint into their harassment along with a schedule of rates for any more of my time required to deal with TV Licensing communications.

I received one further letter from them, stating that they had updated my records and that no further contact would be made for five years.

Girvan, Ayrshire

sir – I have received a letter from TV Licensing telling me that their investigators intend to visit my property on September 12 to establish whether I have a television. The property in question is my garage.
