-

A Tory peer who had an affair with a former Olympic show jumper, who later daubed his flat in pig’s blood, is set to become the next chairman of NHS England.

Lord Prior, a former health minister and current chairman of the Care Quality Commission, has been nominated by the Department of Health and Social Care.

Lizzie Purbrick, 63, the former show jumper, was given a community order and handed a restraining order after admitting criminal damage, in July.
