Flying squad brought to earth by hi-tech crime
Scotland Yard’s Flying Squad must go back to “older ways” to fight crime because they are struggling to use technology to beat cyber criminals, a senior officer has said.
Det Chief Supt Mick Gallagher, head of the Met’s Organised Crime Command, said detectives needed to go undercover and use informants more, as criminals had “diversified” from robberies into online crime. He said officers must “re-establish some of the older ways that we used to work and not be so ... reliant on technology”.
