Lighter pockets

SIR – John Newbury (Letters, September 7) can solve the problem of receiving too many small coins in change by inserting coins into the self-service till up to an amount less than the total bill, and then opting to pay the remaining balance by card.

He will get no change back, and his trouser pockets will thank him. Ben Whitley
