Tight squeeze

SIR – It is not only country roads that are victims of the wider modern car (report, September 7).

New-build housing estates across the country still have garages designed to accommodate a Fifties-era Austin 7, as developers squeeze more properties on to smaller plots. When will planning regulations acknowledge this automotive obesity problem?
