Police chief is Pakistan cricket fan
The Metropolitan Police commissioner has admitted she supports Pakistan over England when it comes to watching cricket.
Cressida Dick told Radio 4’s Test Match Special “Pakistan is my team” when she was interviewed on Saturday.
Ms Dick, 57, said: “I’m basically a cricket fan and I’ll go and watch anybody and I’ve loved seeing England do well, but Pakistan is my team.”
She has followed Pakistan ever since Imran Khan, now Pakistan’s prime minister, replied to a letter she sent him as a girl.
“I grew up in Oxford and we used to walk to the university parks every day when I was not at school, and I met Imran Khan when I was 11 or 12,” she told Jonathan Agnew. “He was a student at Oxford – I think he was 18 or 19 – and I got very keen on Pakistan.”
