David Simon’s drama about the sex workers, pimps and porn-makers that populated New York’s seedy 42nd Street in the Seventies returns. The much-hyped first series left many viewers with a distinct sense of “so what”, not to mention a suspicion that this dissection of exploitation might be exploitative in itself, so this second run has a lot left to prove.
