Parting gesture
sir – With many readers fretting about what to write in the dreaded visitors’ book (Letters, September 11), I would like to offer a solution.
When staying with relatives many years ago, we came down to breakfast to see their visitors’ book open with pen at the ready. We had just started to contemplate what on earth we could write – they were relatives, after all – when our three-year-old daughter wandered over and scribbled most enthusiastically across both pages.
We never saw the thing again. John Smith
