Support for the PM
SIR – Yesterday morning the BBC reported a Conservative MP as saying that everyone he knew thought Theresa May would have to go.
I am the president of the Cities of London and Westminster Conservative Association, the largest in the country, and I find a very high level of support among our members for the Prime Minister. Virtually all of them are fed up with the MPS who are criticising her, and believe that she is doing a good job.

SIR – William Hague (“With Brexit looming, it is worth considering the worst-case scenario”, Comment, September 11) implies that MPS like me who wish to honour the referendum are playing “Russian roulette”.
He writes about the “national interest” as if a flawed compromise, one that leaves us neither in nor out of the EU, must be accepted in order to avoid political meltdown.
Leaving the EU is in our national interest. Ensuring that politicians follow through on a manifesto promise and a vote is equally important if our democracy is to mean anything at all.
