Final farewells
Traditional leaders in Ghana pay their respects to former United Nations secretary-general Kofi Annan, as his casket lies in state in his homeland. The diplomat, who lived in Switzerland, died in hospital in Bern last month at the age of 80. His body was flown to Ghana’s capital, Accra, earlier this week in preparation for a state funeral today. Mr Annan was secretarygeneral of the UN between 1997 and 2006 and also won the Nobel peace prize for his humanitarian work.
