British diver sues Musk over ‘pedo guy’ tweet

A British cave diver is suing Elon Musk for defamation after the technology billionaire called him a paedophile.

Vernon Unsworth, 63, who took part in the rescue of a football team stuck in a cave in Thailand in July, said he had suffered emotional distress.

Mr Unsworth’s legal complaint, filed in California where Musk lives, seeks financial damages that would “punish Musk for his wrongdoing and deter him from repeating such heinous conduct in the future”.

Mr Unsworth had mocked Musk’s attempt to use a mini-submarine in the operation. Musk subsequently called Mr Unsworth “pedo guy” on Twitter, with no evidence.
