MI5 recruits two driving instructors to ‘upgrade skills’
MI5 is hiring two in-house driving instructors to help “upgrade the skill level” of its operatives and surveillance officers.
A job advert posted by the intelligence agency says: “We safeguard the UK against threats relating to terrorism, espionage and cyber-attacks. By joining MI5 as a driving instructor, you will be playing a significant part in keeping our country safe.”
The instructors’ primary role will be to conduct driving assessments for the agency’s staff. Other duties could include running training courses, lasting up to five days, for personnel who are already qualified drivers but who are required to “upgrade their skill level”.
MI5 says “discretion is vital” for instructors, who will be paid a salary between £33,783 and £36,103 plus benefits.
