Meghan reunited with wedding dress on first TV show
THE Duchess of Sussex is to talk about how her new role in the Commonwealth will keep her “busy”, when she undertakes her first television interview as a member of the Royal family.
The Duchess, who will next month embark on her first Commonwealth tour to Australia, Fiji, Tonga and New Zealand with her husband, will appear in an ITV documentary, Queen of the World, next week. She will be reunited with her wedding dress on camera, examining the elaborate veil closely before speaking to an interviewer.
A short trailer for the programme
sees the Duchess reflecting on her new role, which will involve her working alongside the Duke, who has recently been appointed a Commonwealth Youth Ambassador.
“Fifty-three countries, oh my goodness,” she says. “It will keep us busy.”
The trailer sees her handle the delicate wedding veil, made over hundreds of hours and incorporating flowers from each of the 53 nations. It will be displayed at Windsor Castle later this year.
The footage also shows the Duke speaking to young visitors at Buckingham Palace, and the Queen ushering visiting dignitaries to turn around to
face the cameras for an official photograph. The Duke of Cambridge will also appear in the programme, along with the Prince of Wales during his official visit to Canada last year.
The programme will reflect its exclusive access to a collection of private home films that show the Queen’s role as head of the Commonwealth.
The Princess Royal will reminisce about her first trip aboard the Royal Yacht Britannia with the young Prince Charles, after six months apart from their parents during the great postcoronation Commonwealth tour.
The programme will be broadcast on Tues Sept 25 at 9.15pm on ITV.
