Telephone etiquette

SIR – People who telephone me invariably open their calls by asking: “Who is that?”

Surely it would be common courtesy and good etiquette for callers to identify themselves first before proceeding.

In earlier life, I always answered calls with my name but think it naive to do so today. Raymond Barry
