Tying the knot

SIR – I note that Lady Gabriella Windsor’s fiancé, Tom Kingston, has shown respect for the family he is joining by using the Windsor knot for his tie (report, September 22).

Its creation is generally credited to George V rather than to the Duke of Windsor. It can be worn with a dimple (as Mr Kingston did) or without. I prefer the latter. Chris Platford
