Dog killed when lead got stuck in train doors
A dog was dragged to its death when its lead became trapped in train doors, to the horror of its owner.
The accident happened when Rose Barry, a 75-year-old retired nurse, was struggling to board a Thameslink train at Elstree and Borehamwood station, Herts, with Jonty, a Shih Tzu, a walking frame and luggage on Sept 7.
The doors closed with her and her dog still on the platform, trapping her hand. She pulled herself free but the lead was stuck in the doors, resulting in the animal being dragged when the train departed. The Rail Accident Investigation Branch is investigating.
