Raising a glass to Britain’s thriving vineyards

-

SIR – I gather that we now have more than 600 vineyards in Britain producing some excellent wines.

This is wonderful news for our economy and for all wine lovers. Our sparkling wines are winning international acclaim and some are rivalling or even surpassing champagne.

Surely we as a nation should now use British bubbly for celebrations, rather than its French rival. Kathleen Bass
