Top of the hops
SIR – How refreshing to read Tim Barnsley’s thoughts (Letters, September 29) on exotic hop flavours.
We have been buying boring old Fuggles and Goldings from the same Worcestershire hop merchant for the last 33 years. We were thinking of growing shovel beards and becoming hipster craft brewers, but we spend too much time in our local pubs – pubs, mind you, not gastrobars – drinking beer-flavoured beer.
Occasionally we are asked for tasting notes. Bring on the spitoons!
