Tories to scrap increase in fuel duty

Fuel duty will be frozen for the ninth consecutiv­e year, Theresa May will announce in her conference speech.

She will say that Philip Hammond will scrap plans to raise the levy by 2p a litre in his budget later this month.

In her speech, Mrs May will say to hard-working people that the Government is “on their side”.

The Chancellor said he had found money to pay for the policy.
