School fee relief
SIR – Shaun Fenton (report, October 2) is right to suggest that parents who choose to pay for their children’s education do not deserve criticism.
It is worth reminding those who are critical that parents paying up to £40,000 per pupil per year in school fees are also saving the country a large amount of money by not making their children’s education a cost to the state.
Perhaps fee-paying parents should be given tax relief on the money they spend on independent education.
