Council pleads for more details on E. coli deaths
A council leader has urged Public Health England (PHE) to release more information about the deaths of two children from the same family who contracted E. coli.
Health inspectors in Leicestershire are investigating the cause of the contamination after the siblings, who have not been named, died from a complication of E. coli called haemolytic uremic syndrome.
Jonathan Morgan, leader of Charnwood borough council, told The Daily Telegraph he had not been briefed about the “very sad case” and called on the health body to release “more information once they have it”.
A friend of the children’s family commented: “The family haven’t been told anything.”
