Average victim under 70

-

Stroke victims are getting younger, with the average age now below 70. A study published in PLOS Medicine found that while the number of people having strokes had fallen by 43 per cent since 2000, people were having them at a younger age. The data showed that the average age at first stroke has fallen from 72.3 in 2000-03 to 69.3 in 2012-15. The study team attribute the overall reduced rate to factors including improved prevention measures.
