Missing kayaker

The body of a man believed to be Alistair Collier, a 60-year-old kayaker who went missing on Saturday afternoon, has been found 25 miles off the Dorset coast, above, police said last night following an extensive search. The body was found in the water alongside a kayak by a Coastguard aircraft and recovered by HMS Tyne. It was then transferred to Poole Hospital by helicopter. The police search began when Mr Collier, right, from Worcester, failed to complete a race between Knoll Beach and Swanage Pier. His family has been told.
