‘Travesty’ of trans boss named female City champion

- By Camilla Tominey

A TRANSGENDER chief executive who “sometimes goes into work as a man” and has made disparaging comments about women has been named one of the top 100 female champions of women in business.

In a move described as a “travesty” by a transsexual campaigner, Nicci Take has become one of the Financial Times’ “Heroes”.

The list has already attracted controversy for the inclusion of Pip Bunce, of Credit Suisse, who identifies as gender fluid and non-binary while living half the time as Philip Bunce.

There is a separate list for men. Ms Take, of M62 Vincis, who describes herself as a “stylish, demure middle-aged chief executive officer who sometimes goes into work as a man so she can bully people better”, is 95th out of 100 female company leaders who support women in business.

Yet in Ms Take’s secondary role as a “glamorous, stand-up comedienne” she has made derogatory remarks about women, including describing those in the audience during Edinburgh Festival 2016 as ugly. Her position on the list of female champions was described by Mr Miranda Yardley, a transsexual women’s rights campaigner, as an “absolute travesty”.

“Nicci is what we would have called a transvestite 10 years ago and yet now we consider it progressive to decide somebody who dresses as a woman actually is a woman, and include them on a list celebrating women.”

Transgender is an umbrella term with no legal basis that includes people who identify as gender-queer, gendervariant, two-spirit and bi-gender.

The Financial Times was contacted for comment but did not respond.
