With climate change meaning that we’ll soon be experiencing much hotter summers and colder winters as a matter of routine, the infrastructure of our cities is already struggling to keep up. As Gaia Vince relates, new houses built in Britain have a strong emphasis on energy-saving insulation and heating to keep their inhabitants warm in winter, but in summer the same measures can easily lead to overheating. Meanwhile, the temperature on public transport is often stifling during heatwaves. So, Vince asks, what can we learn from warmer countries?
