 With climate change meaning that we’ll soon be experienci­ng much hotter summers and colder winters as a matter of routine, the infrastruc­ture of our cities is already struggling to keep up. As Gaia Vince relates, new houses built in Britain have a strong emphasis on energy-saving insulation and heating to keep their inhabitant­s warm in winter, but in summer the same measures can easily lead to overheatin­g. Meanwhile, the temperatur­e on public transport is often stifling during heatwaves. So, Vince asks, what can we learn from warmer countries?
